I read somewhere that Sonicworks won't recognize USB mics like that, but am fine to get the SW4 bundle with the mic and return the UMIK-1. I've got a window of time where I can return my UMIK-1, so not wed to that. As such, ideally it wouldn't have much added latency that will mess up me tracking live-really not trying to have to constantly turn it on and off and try to remember to check in all the time.

I would love to have the RC be more "set-and-forget" in terms of it either being implemented post-Ableton in my Windows system, or as the last vst plug-in on my master chain (which I'll have to toggle off when rendering). My primary objective is to be able to monitor through Ableton Live with room correction on, and not a ton of added latency. Room isn't crazy bad in terms of acoustic response/ measurements in REW, but could use some help-a bit of a bass null at the mixing position, and in general the bass is a bit low (probably due to the amount of insulation I've put up).Īll this lead-in to give context to my question-for folks with experience in Room Correction, what do you recommend? Sonicworks 4, the new IK Multimedia ARC 3, Dirac Live, or something else? I've read enough to understand that it is mainly the 300 Hz and under range that I should be targeting, and to understand that there may be phase issues that some get introduced (or in theory improved, supposedly w/ Dirac Live). Monitoring on the original Mackie HR824s. Room is roughly 16'x18'x9', serving as both control/ mixing room and tracking room for mostly solo work with electric and acoustic instruments. I have put six cubic yards of denim and rockwool insulation up in the 12" wood joist overhead, so I've got ample insulation/ absorption, arguably too much and not enough deflection. My studio is in my unfinished basement, and though I have long-term plans of building it out proper, right now it is 10" concrete walls that have the vinyl-wrapped 3-1/2" of mineral wool insulation common in newer-build houses. Now I am realizing I should've done a lot more homework before jumping in on all this, so I am humbly coming here seeking advice.

Then realized that EQ APO works like a driver on my RME Multiface for playback on iTunes or in a browser, but doesn't work in my DAW. Then quickly realized I needed a mic with a calibration file, and got a UMIK-1.

I prematurely pulled the trigger on a Behringer EMC8000 mic, and was planning on using Room EQ Wizard and EQ APO to do room corrections on the cheap. I know this topic has been discussed a lot, and I've read up quite a bit on it, both here and elsewhere.
